London Alternative Fashion Week 2009

I woke up very excited at being asked to be involved at the London Alternative Fashion Week, it was my first time taking part and was looking forward to the day.
The fashion show was to showcase designs by students at Waltham Forest College. Bukola Dagiloke art director for The I Feel Experience was in charge of organising the models and creatively directing overall feel of our segment in the show.
I arrived at Spitafields market bright and breezy with a bounce in my step. The changing area was fairly small and buzzing with models running around getting into their outfits.

After finding a space to work in I instructed the other make-up artists on concept for the make-up and we all set to work. I had acquired some funky feather lashes which were applied to four of the models and they looked amazing, the focus of the make-up was on the eyes. Dramatic metallic shadows were used as well as eye crystals which really set off the lovely black dress designs which the models were wearing. The whole preparation went very smoothly due to the great team of fellow make-up artists and the models looked great.

All day long photographers were milling around the models and they really stepped up to the plate and to the challenge. There were eleven models in our segment of the show and while backstage getting ready IFE Journalist Jasdeep Kundi came by to catch up with a few of the girls.

By the time we were ready to go out the area surrounding the stage was packed and the atmosphere was electric. I found my spot in the crowd and waited for the ladies to strut their stuff and they did not disappoint. It felt so good to be involved and stood back and savored the fruits of my labour it was a great day.
